Tipos de resección del colon

En la resección colorrectal, se extirpa (saca) una parte del colon durante la cirugía. A continuación se describen los tipos más comunes de resección colorrectal. Su cirujano le explicará la que es adecuada para usted.



Colostomía

Después de ciertos tipos de cirugía, podría ser necesario impedir que entren heces en el colon y el recto mientras sanan. En otros casos, se ha extirpado el recto. O bien, no se puede reconectar al resto del colon. En cualquiera de estos casos, necesitará una colostomía. Esta crea una nueva abertura en el abdomen que permite expulsar los desechos sólidos del cuerpo. A veces esta nueva abertura se requiere por un breve tiempo, otras veces de forma permanente. Si le hicieron una colostomía durante la cirugía, sus proveedores de atención médica le enseñarán lo que debe hacer para cuidársela.
