You may also be familiar with its generic name, amlodipine.Norvasc is a high alert medication, which means if you do not take it exactly asprescribed, it may cause illness or injury.The heart is a muscle that pumps oxygen and nutrient-rich blood through your body.Over time, certain health problems can cause your blood vessels to become hardenedand inflexible. Your heart has a difficult time doing its job, which can lead to serioushealth problems. Norvasc helps your blood vessels relax and widen, so blood can flowmore easily.Norvasc comes in a tablet. Your healthcare provider will decide how much you need totake, but dosages range from 2.5 milligrams to 10 milligrams.Norvasc is a powerful medication. Some people should not take it. Do not takeNorvasc if you are allergic to any ingredient in Norvasc. If you are pregnant, orplanning to get pregnant, talk to your healthcare provider before taking Norvasc. Donot breastfeed when taking Norvasc.Before taking Norvasc, tell your healthcare provider if you have a history of heartdisease or liver problems. Before taking Norvasc, give your healthcare providera complete list of all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbalsupplements.Some side effects of Norvasc include: dizziness; tired feeling; headache; nausea;redness in the face, neck and upper chest. If you notice any of these side effects tellyour healthcare provider.Be aware that you are at an increased risk of falling while taking Norvasc. Get up froma sitting or lying position slowly. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery, includingyour car, until you know how Norvasc affects you.20% gradient meshIf you have a severe allergic reaction; a light-headed feeling; pounding heartbeat;swelling of the hands, ankles or feet; chest pain, spreading to the arm or shoulders;healthclipsor sweating, call 911 and get help immediately. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as youremember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip your missed dose and return toyour normal medication schedule.Do not double dose. If you think you have taken too much Norvasc, call yourhealthcare provider.Store Norvasc away from moisture and direct sunlight. Your bathroom medicinecabinet is not the best place because of moisture. Do not leave your medication whereit can get too hot or too cold. Always store your medication, out of sight and out ofreach of children to prevent accidents.Norvasc can help your heart work more easily.
