When can my friends and family visit my baby in the NICU?
When can my friends and family visit my baby in the NICU?“Every NICU has their own set of policies. So, each NICU may be slightly different. But in general, both parentsare encouraged to visit the NICU at any time of the day. And usually the only time that they may be asked notto visit is when the nurses are having a confidential sign-out. And that sign-out really means exchange ofinformation from one shift to the other. In addition, many families may create a list of members of their family orextended members of the family, or friends, etc. who can visit the baby. And if a person on that list shows up tothe NICU they may be able to enter the NICU. It's also important to remember that we keep noise to aminimum in the NICU. So, in general, most NICUs have a limit to the number of people who can visit a baby, and that's usually two to three people at a time.”This program is for informational purposes only.
