Checklist: Being Ready for a Natural Disaster DuringTreatmentA flood, hurricane, or other natural disaster can occur at any time–even during your cancer treatment.Being ready for such an event can help you continue to get the care you need. Follow this checklistso you are prepared.Do: Make an emergency plan with your healthcare provider. Know where to go for treatment during anatural disaster and what to do if you miss an appointment.Do: Keep important information about your cancer treatment with you, such as in your wallet or purse.Include: Your provider’s name and phone number; Your cancer type and stage; And your treatmentschedule.Do:Put an extra supply of medicine–at least a week’s worth–in an emergency kit and medical supplies.Visit ready.gov/kit for other things to pack.Do Not: Forget to talk with your loved ones. Make sure family and friends know what to do about yourtreatment during an emergency.Do Not: Forget about your medical records, such as lab reports or imaging results. Keep them secureonline or together in a folder in your emergency kit.Do Not: Consume food or water that may be unsafe. You may get very sick because of yourweakened immune system.Going through cancer treatment can be stressful.
