To get the most out of every appointment, be prepared before you go.Begin by keeping a journal handy to write down any questions or concerns you may have between visits. Then,before your appointment, make a list of the most important questions you want answers to, or the ones that applyto this specific healthcare visit.At the beginning of your appointment share this list with your healthcare provider so you have time to discuss eachconcern while you’re there.If you have been experiencing symptoms, side effects from any medications or just feel different than normal, don’tbe afraid to tell your healthcare provider. They are there to help. But be prepared to answer their questions.They may ask questions like:When did you start feeling this way?Have you ever felt this way before?How long does the feeling last?What makes it better or worse?Have you changed anything in the way you eat or exercise that could be causing this?Are you taking any new medications?What do you think could be causing you to feel this way?They are trying to get to the reason you are feeling a certain way in order to solve the problem. Help them withhonesty and communication.Also remember to bring a current list of the medications you take and their doses. If this is too difficult, bring thebottles with you. And don’t forget to include vitamins and herbal supplements.
